First Date Anniversary

On Wednesday, May 19, 1970, I wore a pink shirt.

How do I remember that? Do I have some crazy smart brain that remembers the smallest details? No, that was my first date with Bev. Since that time we’ve had a tradition of celebrating the anniversary of our first date, and yes, I wear a pink shirt.

We just celebrated anniversary # 44, and it’s one we won’t forget. We started with a visit to Bev’s oncologist, and learned that the cancer markers in her blood, have decreased the last two months from 31 (normal for remission) to 28 and further to 23! Her doctor assured her that this was a very, very good indicator! Later, two new doctors prescribed ointments that solved very painful side effects of her chemo treatments.

As we reflected on the goodness of God, we realized that occasionally blessings in the midst of trials seen to happen all at once. I believe the Lord designs the timing so that we can know that He alone is orchestrating the events out of His love and kindness.

How has demonstrated His love for you lately?

Gratefully in Christ,

Howard Dayton

A lovely story and great, good news!  God is amazing.  He has demonstrated His Love for me lately by encouraging me in recent widowhood.  He has used so many Christian friends to encourage  me with phone calls to keep in touch reminding me of how much they care and how much He loves me.

    Hi Howard,

I want to first say how happy I am that your wife’s health has improved and her markers are down. I pray for her continued good health. I also want to say Happy 44th Date Anniversary.

I too have stage 4 breast cancer which metastasized to my bones. I was originally diagnosed at the age of 40 in 2002, with metastasis in 2006. I have blood work and shots every month, but recently my marker has increased from 18 last November 2013 to 91 July 2014; more rounds of scans are scheduled.

When I was first diagnosed, I asked God to let me see 50, now that I am 52, I am asking for 62 (a little at a time). I know God is our Healer, our Provider, our Comforter and our All, that is why I am asking for prayers for all His healing powers again.

May God continue to bless you both and your ministries as you have been a blessing to us that listen to you on the radio (WLPE 91.7).

    With Love in Christ,
    S. Grooms
